As the final act of the America’s Cup Trophy Tour, Barcelona’s ‘Summer of Sailing’ was presented with a grand event at the newly renovated Tinglados “El Taller,” showcasing all four trophies of the 37th America’s Cup for the first time.
The ceremony was attended by Grant Dalton, CEO of America’s Cup Events, Lluis Salvado, President of the Port de Barcelona, representatives of each of the sponsors and Jaume Collboni, mayor of Barcelona, who commented “Hosting the first women’s competition in the history of the America’s Cup is a transcendent milestone for the city, leaving a lasting mark on sustainability and gender equality.”
The highlight was the unveiling of the 173-year-old America’s Cup Trophy, which stood alongside the trophies of various competitions, including the Puig Women’s America’s Cup designed by Spanish architect and designer Patricia Urquiola. This trophy, which will be awarded to the winning team on October 13th, embodies refined simplicity, featuring a sleek silver cylinder that opens like a sail. Its interior reveals a rose gold effect, with meticulous chiseling on the exterior. Unlike traditional trophies, this handle-free design allows the winning team to embrace it fully, symbolizing their unity and triumph.
